Our CalPERS Investment Office (INVO) is currently seeking an experienced individual to fill an Investment Officer III (IO III) position within our Investment Operations (IO) team to assist the Investment Manager (IM) to negotiate agreements, terms, and conditions which govern CalPERS trading relationships with counterparties and external managers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide support to draft, negotiate, edit, and maintain trading agreements as necessary to execute with CalPERS external counterparties and investment managers.
• Provide subject matter expertise on trade and other vendor contracts as requested.
• Support the maintenance of global compliance with all regulatory mandates subject to agreement and documentation with all counterparties/managers.
• Research and stay abreast of all evolving regulatory requirements which may impact CalPERS relationships, terms of agreement, or collateral schedules.
• Implement a regulatory requirement framework, amend legal agreements, and credit support annexes as required to maintain compliance.

Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite per week.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience in asset management or pension fund industry
• Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced degree (JD preferred)
• Experience in negotiating and maintaining trade agreement documents (i.e. ISDA, MSFTA, MRA, Securities Lending Agreement, CSA, FCA, PBA, Investment Manager Agreement, and Limited Partnership Agreements, etc.)
• Experience in change management
• Knowledge of investment strategies and security types and vendor management practices
• Ability to interact effectively with senior executives and portfolio managers to evaluate, execute, and implement investment strategies in an operationally efficient manner to mitigate risk
• Professional Certification (e.g. CFA, CAIA)

If employed, you may be subject to rules imposed by Personal Trading Regulations and Conflict of Interest Code that apply to CalPERS team members, which require disclosure of certain investment information and use of a designated trading platform for securities transactions, as well as filing a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700)
