Job Description

The Statewide California Organizer will lead LIVE FREE project teams and partners through planning, organizing, and managing projects from inception to completion. This role requires analyzing potential risks, anticipating challenges, and making strategic adjustments to maintain project momentum. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with both state and national LIVE FREE organizing teams to advance our mission of racial and economic justice.

Key Responsibilities

Build a Powerful Network

  • Cultivate relationships with faith and community leaders through consistent outreach
  • Conduct approximately 15 one-on-one meetings weekly to identify interests and motivations
  • Inspire and mobilize grassroots leaders to take bold action in the public arena
  • Participate and strengthen existing networks, coalitions and movement-building groups, while expanding our reach and impact by building new partnerships 

Develop Leadership

  • Coach and support community leaders to engage residents in public events, direct actions, and campaigns
  • Build and nurture teams focused on leadership multiplication
  • Identify and cultivate individuals who can develop leadership in others

Drive Strategic Planning

  • Co-create long-term strategic plans with grassroots leaders that build power and deliver concrete wins
  • Integrate sophisticated messaging tools that combat racial division and build cross-racial and cultural solidarity
  • Apply data-driven approaches to track supporter participation and movement growth

Build Multi-Dimensional Power

  • Grow political, economic, healing, and narrative power within Black, Indigenous, people of color, women, youth, and LGBTQIA+ communities
  • Convert non-voters into engaged voters in California
  • Leverage various forms of capital to advance movement goals
