This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join a dynamic team in the freight forwarding industry. As an Ocean Export Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for driving new business growth, cultivating relationships with clients, and leading sales efforts in ocean export services. Key Responsibilities:
Generate new ocean export business leads through cold calling and relationship-building within the assigned territory.
Manage and maintain accurate records of potential leads and current customers using CRM software (Sugar).
Regularly engage with existing accounts, providing timely rate updates and maintaining strong client relationships.
Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with corporate goals to drive growth in ocean export services.
Oversee ocean export sales forecasting and set performance targets for the team.
Prepare and present sales reports, showcasing sales volumes, potential leads, and areas for expansion.
Make an average of 20-50 calls per day, working to meet monthly quotas set by the Regional VP of Sales.
Collaborate with the ocean export operations team to ensure smooth transitions between sales and operations.
Support Accounts Receivable in tracking payments from customers and resolving any issues.
Help create campaign lists for the sales team and provide training and guidance to fellow Ocean Export Sales Representatives.
Attend meetings with key clients and assist in closing new deals.
Foster long-term relationships with clients, ensuring continued business growth.
Qualifications:
5-10 years of experience in freight forwarding business development, outside sales, and leadership.
Proven track record of developing and managing international ocean, air, and/or customs brokerage accounts.
Strong "hunter" mentality with a focus on generating new business opportunities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (experience with Sugar is a plus).
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
Reliable transportation for travel within the designated territory.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in International Transportation, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
Significant outside sales experience in the freight forwarding industry is required.
Work Schedule:
Regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST. Hybrid work model available.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary between $80,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience and education.
Uncapped commission opportunities.
$800 monthly car allowance.
