Q6Cyber is hiring a highly motivated and detail oriented senior targeting analyst that is a fluent/native Mandarin speaker. The candidate will seek and closely track highly advanced threat groups with a specific focus on groups targeting payment card processing infrastructure. The candidate must be experienced in compiling publicly available and open source research and using it to provide context so as to develop a coherent picture of a threat actor group’s organization, tools, and tactics, techniques, and procedures. In this position you will also be responsible for creating white papers and presentations describing our findings for technical and non-technical audiences. You will work closely with peers to identify targets and develop operational plans. The position is remote, OR in our HQ in Miami, Florida (relocation assistance is available).

roles and responsibilities

  • Working closely with multiple teams, the senior targeting analyst will be primarily responsible for developing intelligence on threat actor infrastructure and tools.
  • Use publicly available tools to track and develop attribution for threat actors developing and distributing malware, conducting financial fraud, and deploying ransomware.
  • Develop personal relationships with peers in the industry to stay ahead of threat actor operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the network infrastructure and tools used by threat actors for our other analytical teams and our clients
  • Maintain link analysis charts, diagrams, and other products describing the current operations, infrastructure and tools of threat actor groups.
  • Develop technical reports and presentations on topics of interest for internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate with our engineering team to develop new data processing and alerting to help further speed identification of target infrastructure.
  • Provide translation services: the translation of written and video material to English.

required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, foreign equivalent, or compensatory experience in computer science or related fields.
  • 5 years of experience in relevant roles of increasing responsibility demonstrating ability to independently manage investigations.
  • Fluent in reading and writing Mandarin
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience following threat actors and discovering their infrastructure and method of operations.
  • Deep knowledge of computer networking, operating systems, web technologies, and online advertising.
  • Expert level skills in conducting open source research.
  • Experience with publicly available threat research tools such as Shodan, Censys, URLScan, VirusTotal, PassiveTotal, AlienVault Open Threat Exchange, MISP, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver presentations to groups of industry peers.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a closely knit team environment.
  • Experience querying enterprise level data environments to conduct independent research.
  • Experience writing yara rules and other saved queries.
  • Familiarity with anonymization tools such as VPNs, cryptocurrency, and proxy networks such as Tor.
  • Can-do attitude.
