The intern hired for this position should expect to learn all facets of maintenance and will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right student that is looking for a summer internship that will provide exposure to the Trades. This position is for an entry level Industrial Maintenance Technician. An introduction to the Trades – Including Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, Machining and Welding. No prior experience is required, however a positive attitude and desire to work hard is important. Under supervision and instruction, the duties will include general repairs and routine maintenance, including inspecting and maintaining production-related equipment, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and adjusting mechanical parts using hand and machine tools.
Essential Functions
Assist in routine maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment and machinery.
Support troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, and part replacements.
Assist with equipment installations and upgrades.
Monitor and ensure the safety of maintenance tools and equipment.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and work orders.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to implement improvements and increase efficiency.
Learn and follow safety protocols and plant procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
Competencies and Required Education
Pursuing a degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of industrial equipment and machinery (hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, etc.).
Familiarity with maintenance tools and safety procedures.
Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Previous experience or coursework related to industrial maintenance is a plus but not required.
Compensation:
$18 per hour
Housing will be provided for candidates coming from out of state.
