Job Description

**Job Title: Lodge Operations Manager**

**Summary:**

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lodge Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our beautiful lodge located on a stunning remote island in Southeast Alaska. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our guests have a memorable experience by leading a talented team, maintaining the lodge's cleanliness and appearance, addressing guest inquiries, and resolving any issues that may arise. You will also be responsible for managing budgets and staff performance, all while upholding our high standards of hospitality.

Our lodge offers a delightful menu featuring locally caught salmon, Alaskan crab, and prime rib, and our guests arrive aboard our custom-built tour vessels. Join us in providing a five-star experience for every visitor!

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**

- Safely transport crew to and from the lodge on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with the Port Captain to identify and resolve any operational issues.
- Lead and manage the food and beverage team, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to address challenges and improve logistics at the lodge.
- Maintain a proactive maintenance schedule for lodge and vessel equipment, including oil and coolant levels, fuel filters, batteries, and other machinery.
- Ensure the safety protocols for both the lodge and crew are consistently upheld.
- Oversee the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fire prevention measures.
- Supervise daily maintenance tasks at the lodge, including cleaning, monitoring water levels, managing sewage and fuel needs, and restocking supplies.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and start-up procedures for generators and pumps, including oil changes, painting, and landscaping.
- Assist with crew loading and unloading, safety orientations, and emergency response training.
- Plan and execute emergency drills, equipment checks, and safety meetings in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and company policies.
- Maintain navigational and electrical equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order, and keep accurate logs and reports for daily operations.
- Collaborate with the Lodge Manager on scheduling and operational needs.
- Work with lodge staff to maintain outdoor areas, including the firepit, yard games, and general upkeep of the lodge.
- Foster effective communication with guests, team members, and management.
- Participate in special projects as assigned by the business.

**Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):**

- Valid minimum 25-ton license.
- FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit (MROP) required.
- Ability to work independently and resolve issues effectively to ensure a quality experience for both staff and guests.
- Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test.
- Commitment to a drug-free workplace, including pre-employment screening and enrollment in a random drug testing program as required by the Coast Guard.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Background in diesel mechanics, outboard motors, or electrical/electronic systems.
- Experience in the tourism, travel, or outdoor recreation industries.

**Environmental Conditions:**

**Physical Demands:**

- Ability to stand for extended periods on steel decks with constant vibration and moderate noise levels.
- Required to enter engine rooms and other confined spaces as needed.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to navigate uneven surfaces while moving between vessels.

**Work Environment:**

- Must maintain a clean and professional appearance, dressed in uniform at the start of each shift.
- This is a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with a diverse team.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays during the tour season is essential.
- Adherence to company and U.S. Coast Guard drug and alcohol policies is required.
