The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
The Mailroom intern will ensure all mail is distributed throughout CPS Energy Headquarters. Intern will learn the basics of mail processing as well as the laws that are applicable to us. Learn how to use the permit numbers as well how to fill out the required 3602’s for mailings. Intern will learn the basics of digital printing, focused on the Xerox reprographics printers. They will also learn how to order for all CPS Energy’s Xerox equipment as well as ensuring all supplies are within the Business Centers.
Personal Computer Usage
Must be a current high school student.
Must be a minimum age of 16.
Must reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.
Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with other areas to achieve goals and objectives.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.
Basic analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate an interest in a career applicable to the utility industry.
Participate in full-time employment with CPS Energy.
Attend all activities sponsored by CPS Energy during employment.
Pass a drug test and background screen prior to employment with CPS Energy.
