SPECIAL NOTES:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or another business-related field is  preferred.

 

Requirement:

  • Professional experience in accounting, auditing, and/or analyzing data.

 

Additional Preference s:

  • Experience reviewing financial records for compliance with established criteria.
  • Experience auditing State of Florida expenditures
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel including the ability to filter data and use Pivot tables

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

The minimum annual salary for this position is $56,452.33.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to solve problems. Ability to interpret and analyze legislative bills. Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, theories, and concepts. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to examine, audit, and evaluate financial records. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to conduct audits and prepare audit reports. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications. Ability to research and interpret accounting literature, rules, and pronouncements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :

Responsible for scheduling and conducting desk audits of the Clerk of the Circuit Court Offices court-related expenditures as required by section (s.) 28.241, Florida Statutes (F.S.), to ensure that State funds are being spent appropriately.

 

Requires professional accounting work involving the independent application of governmental accounting techniques, auditing concepts, and financial reporting skills in accordance with generally accept accounting principles (GAAP), and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). The position requires a working knowledge of personal computer applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.

 

Responsible for producing reports, correspondence, and other work papers that accurately reflect the scope, objectives, and methodology used during the expenditure audit for fiscal accountability.

 

Assists the Financial Administrator in coordinating all workflow activities for the Article V Section. These activities include training staff and providing technical assistance to Clerks’ Offices to improve proper use of state funds as needed.

 

Assists the Financial Administrator in analyzing and implementing new legislative initiatives for the Article V Section and other duties as assigned.
