Position Title: DISTRICT MANAGER  

Reports To: Regional Director of Operations

Salary: $140,000-$145,000

Other Forms of Compensation: 25% Bonus Eligibility + Comprehensive Benefits Package

Job Summary

The District Manager drives excellence in the service and experience of the operation. Identifies, motivates, trains, develops and directs team members to deliver exceptional service and accomplish daily goals and projects. This position oversees the administrative and operational tasks, including financial management and analysis, sanitation and safety.

 

The District Manager will focus on innovative hospitality and creating the cafe experience for the Google Food program in order to support operational excellence. This position reports into the Regional Director and will leverage their strong communication, hospitality and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders (culinary, nutrition, marketing, behavioral science, concept development, procurement, risk management, operations and people approach) to promote with standards, Google Food expectations and enhance user (partner) experience.

 

This role is based in New York, NY.

The great things you will be expected to do:

  • Designs, manages and owns the overall cafe experience in NYC, not just the offerings.

  • Sets an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging- working alongside our Hospitality Excellence manager to uplevel our program and challenge the status quo.

  • Has a passion for quality food preparation and taste.

  • Drives succession planning by leading, developing, and mentoring a talent pipeline of AGMs and GMs.

  • Conducts all General Manager reviews, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions in a professional and timely manner.

  • Collaborates with the RDO & finance team to manage financial responsibilities.

  • Ensures all sector and Compass employee guidelines are implemented and adhered to.

  • Creates a culture of Food and Workplace Safety.

  • Treats all customers with professionalism, care and respect. 

  • Communicates with our partner honestly, accurately, and in a timely manner.

  • Ensure cafe teams work within budget while maintaining standards.

  • Ensures that all café operations meet great expectations standards.

  • Maintains union relationship with active involvement with complex issues escalated and participation in JLM.

  • Preferably has a culinary background & general industry knowledge combined with leadership experience in a multi unit role.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • A proven track record of leadership.

  • Proven coaching and teaching skills with peers, individuals, and teams.

  • Passion for food trends, hospitality, innovation and creative experiences.

  • Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Creates a culture of food and workplace safety.

  • Proven coaching and teaching skills with peers, individuals, and teams.

  • Proven ability to maximize budget, enhance user experience and creativity across all channels in alignment with business strategy.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, motivate and interact with all levels within the organization.

  • Demonstrates good judgement and decision making skills.

  • Maintain a positive attitude under pressure and motivate the team.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Working knowledge of Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.

  • Union experience is a plus.
