Beef Product & Pricing Analyst – Value Added Beef

Purpose and Scope/General Summary:
This position is responsible for driving revenue improvement, increasing market share, and supporting the growth of value-added beef products. The role involves pricing value-added products efficiently, assisting in product roadmap development, and collaborating with multiple departments to meet deadlines and margin expectations. A strong understanding of yields and their impact on breakeven costs is essential. The position requires analytical skills, communication abilities, leadership, and program management expertise to drive successful sales and margin results. Clear communication with sales and scheduling teams is crucial for overall program growth and revenue enhancement.

Responsibilities:

  1. Value-Added Pricing

    • Price all value-added products to ensure financial and budgetary goals are met.

    • Analyze yields and breakeven costs.

    • Review competitive data and customer margin expectations to optimize pricing strategies.

    • Develop and maintain pricing files.

    • Collaborate with core pricing teams to forecast raw material costs.

    • Manage transfer pricing rules and monitor raw material costs.

  2. Commercial Support

    • Handle sample requests, first order checklists, and pre-shipment inspections.

    • Assist sales and marketing teams in developing effective strategies.

    • Provide expertise on programs across all sales channels and customer segments.

    • Support financial and budgetary planning initiatives.

    • Facilitate plant tours.

    • Serve as a liaison between sales, scheduling, and operations.

    • Communicate product updates and progress to sales and executive leadership.

  3. Product Mix Management

    • Utilize yield and production data to identify business opportunities.

    • Analyze customer needs and market trends to drive product decisions.

    • Support scheduling and sales teams in executing product mix strategies.

    • Set benchmarks and throughput goals.

  4. Reporting

    • Develop and maintain reports for product performance tracking.

    • Monitor and analyze product performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the beef industry required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with sales, pricing, scheduling, production, and business analysis teams, as well as key customers.

  • Excellent data analysis skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong communication and sales planning abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills; experience with QlikView preferred.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Quintiq, ECS, or Shopfloor is a plus.

  • Ability to travel up to 15% to value-added facilities nationwide.

  • Capable of performing job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.
