Job Description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Bartender – South Service is to provide unmatched customer service through the prompt and accurate delivery of beverage service to all guests and cocktail servers.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently take beverage and food orders, preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with department specifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all beverage functions including mixing of drinks and operation of all bar equipment.
  • Provides unmatched service to guests at all times. Proactively seeks guest service opportunities.
  • Interacts with internal and external guests taking drink orders and delivers high quality drink orders to the guests in a timely manner.
  • Handles cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently associated with beverage sales and provides appropriate change to the guest.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the beverage preparation areas comply with Clark County Health Codes. 
  • Works in an appropriate non-hazardous manner avoiding self-injury and unsafe work methods.
  • Must be regularly checked by supervisor to ensure proper handling of equipment and proper lifting techniques.
  • Provides accurate directions and information for guest inquires and is knowledgeable about all aspects of The Venetian and The Palazzo to include services, features, attractions, promotions and special events.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Health card, TAM card,, Non-gaming registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 1 year high volume experience as a bartender.
  • Experience in a hotel casino environment preferred.
  • Candidates must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must possess a general understanding of specialty drinks, wine and fine spirits.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior customer service skills by presenting a friendly, relaxed and professional demeanor, ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while meeting business demands.
  • Must be able to complete cash transactions accurately and efficiently, basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division a must.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel .
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
