Department: Air Freight Operations

Position Overview:

As an Air Export Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end air export operations for a global freight forwarding company. This role ensures seamless coordination of shipments, compliance with international regulations, and the delivery of exceptional customer service. You will lead a team of professionals, work closely with carriers, shippers, and customs authorities, and contribute to the company's operational excellence and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Oversight:

  • Manage the entire air export process, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and shipment tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with airlines, freight handlers, and other service providers to ensure timely delivery of shipments.
  • Resolve operational issues, such as delays, damages, or documentation discrepancies, with a focus on minimizing disruptions.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of air export coordinators and specialists.
  • Provide training and guidance on industry best practices, company procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

3. Customer Relationship Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Prepare and present performance reports to clients, highlighting shipment status and key metrics.

4. Financial and Budgetary Management:

  • Monitor and control operational costs, ensuring profitability of air export services.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and service providers to optimize margins.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities for the air export department.

5. Process Improvement and Compliance:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in air export operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology advancements to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, invoices, and related documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in air export operations within the freight forwarding industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of air export processes, incoterms, and international trade regulations.
  • Proficiency in freight management software, such as CargoWise, SAP, or similar systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Other Requirements:

  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required.
  • Valid certifications in Dangerous Goods Handling (IATA) and/or Export Compliance (preferred).
